Sad Day :(

Today I found out that I wouldn't be able to go to the ATPI Winter Conference. I really wish I could go because ATPI is an experiance to get other photographs opinions on my pictures. They also have classes that help you with your photography interests. I'm really sad that I don't get to go because I have Regionals for swim that same weekend. Hopefully next year I'll be able to go!

Texas High vs. Royce City varsity basketball

ISO 2000, aperture 4.0, and a shutter speed of 1/250th of a second

This photograph was taken during the varsity basketball game against Royce City. This assignment was stressful because the yearbook deadline is coming up, and they really needed some good photos. This image is my favorite out of all the ones I took because of all the action going on. I used a 17-50 lens. For the flash, Taylor Coleman and I used two 580 flashes attached to the railings on the side.

Fire Extinguishers

ISO 100, aperture 4.0, and a shutter speed of 1/250th of a second

ISO 100, aperture 5.6, and a shutter speed of 1/250th of a second

ISO 100, aperture 5.0, and a shutter speed of 1/250th of a second

The mechanic and culinary classes were learning how to put out a fire with a fire extinguisher. I used a 17-50m lens and a 580 flash. I enjoyed this newspaper/yearbook assignment because I got to take pictures of fire for the first time. The hardest part was getting the picture exposed correctly because the fire was in a shadow and the people with the extinguisher were in the sunlight.

Twins being put in the yearbook

ISO 800, aperture 4.0, and a shutter speed of 1/250th of a second

I absolutely hated taking this picture because of the awful lighting in the hallways on a rainy day. It looks too posed, another reason why I dislike this picture. The only descent reason why this assignment wasn't absolutely terrible and awkward was because I know freshman Anne. I had a 17-50mm lens and a 580 flash. Blehh.... not impressed with myself today.

They are SO cute!

ISO 100, aperture 8.0, and a shutter speed of 1/320th of a second

ISO 1000, aperture 4.0, and a shutter speed of 1/40th of a second

These pictures were taken at Morris elementary. My physics teacher brought a few of the trebuchet groups to Morris to show them how a trebuchet works. The first picture was taken outside of the elementary school when the groups were launching their trebuchets. I love this picture because of the three different children's reactions! I also love how the first picture is framed. It's my favorite. I enjoy the second picture because it's colorful and shows that the children are interested in what we have to tell them about this major physics project we had to build.

headshots for yearbook

My ISO was 100, aperture was 5.6, and the shutter speed was set on 1/160th of a second. I enjoyed taking this girl's picture because she was really nice and photogenic. I used a 17-50mm lens. All day during photography class, I took headshots for the yearbook. This picture is my favorite out of all the ones I took.

2012 Convention Design: make up blog for January 5th

ISO 200, aperture 4.0, and on bulb

ISO 200, aperture 4.0, and on bulb

Mrs. Waldrep, my leadership teacher, needed a t-shirt design for the 2012 convention Texas High is holding in Arlington in April. It was last minute, and Mrs. Waldrep needed a design fast. Brianna had this idea for the t-shirt design, and she asked me if I'd help. We did all of this in the dark room. We took a 50D, tripod, and a orange yellow light bulb with a black bag as a snoot. Brianna and I separated out the words when taking them and Smith helped combine them all in light room. Writing the words backwards was really difficult, but the outline of the Texas was defiantly the hardest part. For the Texas, Brianna and I put aluminum foil around the edge of the Texas to give a glimmer when tracing it with a flash light. This "project" took a lot of time, but Brianna and I are very excited about the turn out. Everybody loves the design. Most likely one of these 2 designs will be on 5,000 t-shirts and pamplets with our names on the back. It's exciting. :)

Boys Varsity Soccer Game: First time ever shooting soccer

I used a 70-200mm lens and my settings were set at ISO 2000, aperture 4.0, and a shutter speed set at 1/250th of a second. Soccer is extremely hard to shoot, in my opinion. This was the best picture I got during the game, and it isn't very good at all. The guy behind him makes the picture awkward, but at least I got the lighting right.

Seven Minutes

ISO 800, aperture 4.0, and a shutter speed of 1/50th of a second

ISO 100, aperture 4.5, shutter speed of 1/250th of a second

ISO 100, aperture 4.5, and a shutter speed of 1/250th of a second

These images were taken for the yearbook because of the show, 7 Minutes, that Tigervision is producing. I really enjoyed this assignment because I knew everyone there really well and we all had a good time. These pictures are cool cause its like your behind the scenes.  The three of these images show emotion and the basics of the show. They kind of tell a story.
