We had a guest speaker today!! :)

Today Christena Doswett, a photo journalist, came to our photography class to talk to us about photography and her experience in the photography field. Christena was really fascinating. She showed us pictures that she took in Africa and explained their unique culture. Her pictures were all so unique and inspiring to everyone in the class. Her photos were TRUE photo journalist images; they told stories were fascinating. The way she framed her images was really unique. She had so many stories to tell, but all her stories about Africa were my favorite even though they were really sad. I learned that as a photographer, our job is to make EVERY image say a story, even if it's just a boring building, you can still make the image interesting by changing the framework and angle. She also gave the class a point of view about how important timing is with a picture of a little girl who saved her grandma. Christena explained how the grandma, who had a stroke, walked out on the porch to talk to someone while Christena was taking the portrait with the little girl. I really enjoyed her visit. She was truly inspiring. She was so cool, she even helped the class with picking out the top ten photos that would go in the sports and photo journalism categories for the TOP competition.
